Empowerment Drive

In June 2022, Tabasamu na Upendo successfully conducted an Empowerment Drive in honour of World Menstrual Hygiene Day 2022, with the aim of promoting dignity, awareness, and inclusivity among young learners. The initiative focused on empowering both girls and boys at Heri Junior Academy through the distribution of essential care packages. Girls received thoughtfully prepared care packages containing sanitary towels, sanitary bins, and Vaseline to support menstrual hygiene and confidence. Boys were equally included through care packages consisting of boxers, socks, and Vaseline, reinforcing the importance of personal hygiene and shared responsibility in breaking stigma. The drive fostered open conversations around menstrual health, encouraging understanding and support among all students. Community members and partners were warmly welcomed to participate and contribute in various ways, making the initiative impactful and inclusive. The program reflected Tabasamu na Upendo’s commitment to empowering youth and building informed, supportive communities.
